We expect to be progressively rolling out ECLIPSE software to practices throughout 2010, beginning in the next few months. In order to make this a relatively seamless process we would first like to get an idea of how many sites would like ECLIPSE given the information below:
Features:
Online claiming to Medicare and Health funds for inpatient services
Supports No Gap billing
Supports Known Gap billing (limited, see Drawbacks below)
Supports Patient Claims paid and unpaid (limited, see Drawbacks below)
Online patient verification for health fund details (not eligibility)
Drawbacks:
Separate claiming system to the conventional Genie invoicing due to the complex requirements of submitting claims
Can be time consuming if there are problems with the claim (ie. no different to dealing with problems with manually submitted claims)
Unpaid Patient Claims (ie. Surgery account made out to the patient not the health fund) get a cheque issued to the servicing provider but posted to the patient’s address. However if the cheque is not presented within 90 days of the issue date then the money will be deposited into your nominated bank account
Paid Patient Claims must be fully paid ie. no gap payments, in order to claim online
At this stage Medibank Private are not participating in ECLIPSE for No Gap or for Known Gap claiming, most other funds are participating to some extent
Cost:
There is an upfront cost which includes:
Compulsory attendance by one staff member to an ECLIPSE certification training course (you may have a maximum of two staff members attend at an additional cost)
A follow up onsite visit (travel and accommodation excluded) approximately 4 weeks after attending the training course to assist in dealing with reports and payments of claims
The first years ongoing annual fee
Your annual fee will increase after your first year
Additional Information:
One staff member in your practice MUST be trained in how to use the ECLIPSE software in order for our support staff to assist in any ECLIPSE matters. The staff member will be nominated and noted in our records. This should be a staff member that has a large presence in the practice whether it be a Practice manager or senior receptionist that is available to speak to should any issues arise.
If this staff member leaves the practice another staff member will need to be nominated and trained either by a Genie representative or by attending an ECLIPSE certification training course in order to receive further support for ECLIPSE matters. (Usual training costs will apply in this instance).
